JOHANNESBURG – The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation has urged South African’s to participate in this week’s Anti-Racism campaign.

The campaign, which has been organised by over 80 groups under the Anti-Racism Network of South Africa, has kicked off in Johannesburg.

It aims to strengthen public dialogue around issues of race with multiple activities scheduled across the country until Friday.

Both the Nelson Mandela and Ahmed Kathrada foundations say a host of activities are not only made to educate the public on issues of racism but will provide a platform for South Africans to openly speak on their experience of racial prejudice.

The foundation’s Ismail Vadi kicked off the program at the Gibson Pillay academy in Lenasia this morning.

“It’s good to talk about it, it’s part of building confidence to get ordinary South Africans to begin to challenge any example or incident of racism.”

Social media users have been encouraged to join the conversation under the hashtag ‘Take on Racism’ and pledge their support.
