South African Creatives on Display at Design Indaba
Cape Town – Local proved to be lekker as exhibitors from across the country showcased exceptional designs with a South African influence at the annual Design Indaba.
The event, which was held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre last week, brought together thousands of creatives, buyers and thought-leaders for a three-day feast that provided an insight into coming trends.
The multidisciplinary expo offered platforms such as a conference with design gurus giving insights on the world’s leading brands, a simulcast broadcast in different locations in South Africa and design-orientated films.
Over the years, the exhibition – a grand display of bespoke stationery, homeware and furniture design and wares – has also given a number of young designers an opportunity to introduce their work to international buyers.
Taking a walk through the beautifully curated expo stands at the weekend, it was evident that designers and creatives drew inspiration from the unique beauty and experiences that Africa has to offer.
Exhibitors’ bespoke items included decor pieces, homeware and handmade craft products that would brighten up and add a South African flavour to any home.
A collection of colourful toiletry bags and striking images of Nguni cattle was on display at Ed Suter’s exhibition stand.
