Nigerian Omoyemi Akerele is the founder and artistic director of Style House Files, an online creative development agency for Nigerian and African designers. Before her fashion consulting career, Akerele received her Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Lagos in Nigeria and her master’s degree in International Economic Law from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom. After working as a lawyer in Lagos, Akerele became an image consultant at a prominent image consulting company in London.
As the founder of Style House Files, Akerele works on brand positioning and retail strategies, and helps in gaining international exposure for Nigerian brands. Outside of Nigeria, Akerele has presented the West African brands in showcases like Pitti Immagine in Italy and through Lagos Fashion and Design Week (LFDW).
Akerele founded LFDW in 2011. The four-day event features up-and-coming designers and fashion entrepreneurs. The show has attracted many international buyers and journalists since its partnerships with British Fashion Council and has helped in raising the profile of the Nigerian fashion industry.
