As the Senior Vice President of Sales & Business Development at The Africa Channel, Dean Cates plays a pivotal role in driving revenue growth across all business segments of the network. With over 15 years of diverse experience in digital media, entertainment, and both non-profit and for-profit sectors, Dean brings a wealth of knowledge and innovative strategies to the table.
Dean’s expertise in business development and analysis is complemented by his experience in marketing and communications. In addition to his oversight of Sales, Mr. Cates was instrumental in the launch of The Africa Channel’s OTT business Demand Africa and is currently driving our strategy to build a business in Brazil.
Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota, Dean’s educational background lays the foundation for his business acumen. His move to Los Angeles marked the beginning of a career distinguished by dynamic growth and effective business strategies.
Currently residing in Valley Village, Dean is also known for his deep passion for volunteering as exemplified by his significant work at PATH (People Assisting the Homeless), a leading homeless services agency in California, where he oversaw marketing and communications efforts.
His dedication to these interests is reflected in his approach to business development, where he combines his professional expertise with his personal passions to contribute to the success of The Africa Channel.
