Building on President Barack Obama's trip to Africa in 2013, he hosted the first ever U.S. - Africa Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C. The goal was to focus on trade and investment in Africa. The summit theme: "Investing in the Next Generation."

Bringing together African heads of state and government from over 40 African countries, as well as business leaders from Africa and the U.S., for three days the nation's capital was a meeting place focused on strengthening U.S. and African ties.

Politicians, business executives and passionate citizens from the U.S. and Africa gathered to discuss the future of one of the fastest growing economic regions in the world.
