U.S. Health Care Worker with Ebola Improves to ‘Fair’
The health of an American aide worker suffering from Ebola was upgraded Monday to fair condition at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., according to a statement from the hospital.
The worker, whose identity has not bee released, was evacuated from Sierra Leone earlier this month.
The worker was initially listed in critical condition and later improved to serious condition. Nearly 500 healthcare workers across West Africa have died of the disease since the outbreak began in December of 2013.
In all, nearly 25,000 people across West Africa have been infected with Ebola and more than 10,000 have died.
