Call her the modern day Molly Ringwald. The one, ahem, that she proudly declares in her Instagram is of African decent.
East Orange, New Jersey’s Kyemah McEntyre is the most famous prom attendee this year. Make that prom queen. And she is definitely having a SHEro moment, allowing the world to bask in her bada** presence and take notes.
“Don’t let anyone define you. Beautiful things happen when you take pride in yourself,” she wrote on her Instagram.
The 18-year-old won the internet – and everyone with a heart – by standing in her strength, beauty and confidence in the face of cruel bullies. Not only did she design an amazing dress reflecting her beauty, she did so in her own style, encouraging others to do the same.
The Cicely Tyson School of Performing Arts graduate will be heading to Parsons School of Design in the fall, but it’s clear that she has already become an American designer to watch. As well as a role model.
