Meet Kenya’s Barack and Mitt

November 7, 2012

In Kenya, Millicent Owuor, 20, keeps the election alive even after the results. The mother of newborns, whom she named Barack and Mitt, gave birth on the United States’ Election Day. The twins were delivered at Siaya District Hospital, not far from President Obama’s ancestral village of Kogelo.

According to Kenya’s Standard, Owuor named the first twin Barack and the second Mitt, in honor of the election results.

All across Kenya, people are cheering over the results of yesterday’s election- especially in the village of Kogelo where President Obama’s step-grandmother still resides. In a video released by the BBC, the proud nana says she was, not “devastated at heart,” because she had “full faith and confidence that Barack (not the baby) would win.” Granny always knows best!
