Let This Sink In: Pot Just Decriminalized in Jamaica
Jamaica’s parliament on Tuesday decriminalized the possession of small amounts of marijuana. Under the amendment to the country’s Dangerous Drugs Act, it is now legal to possess up to 2 ounces of the formerly banned substance. Additionally, the legislation allows for the cultivation of up to five marijuana plants on private premises.
In terms of permissibility, the amendment puts the island nation on par with some of the more pot-friendly states in the U.S.
