Jo-Wilfried Tsonga Uses Himself to Make “T” in Heartfelt Message to Fans
After almost blowing a two-set lead to No. 5 seed Kei Nishikori, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga hung on for a thrilling, nerve-wracking five-set win that included a 37-minute delay for a falling piece of scoreboard that injured three fans. After the handshake and while the crowd roared, a celebratory, relieved Tsonga started writing a message in the clay with his feet.
R-O-L-A-N-D J-E _’-A-I-M-E it finally said, which was just as much jibberish to the French as it was to Americans who don’t speak French. But Tsonga cleared it up, when he laid down in the bare space to make a “T” with his body.
“ROLAND JE T’AIME,” it read. “Roland, I love you.”
