Because black city-dwelling women are interesting/fun/smart as hell.

First off, it’s pronounced “Heaven.”

Which is exactly what her voice and perspective is to thousands of black women that discuss hair and pop culture and politics.  But truly, not many do it so thoughtfully and clever as she does.

Take the following tweet @heavenrants:

“Listening to Donald Trump speak is very inspirational honestly. You miss 100% of the sentences you don’t make.”

#genius.

As one half of the dynamic duo that is Another Round podcast (Tracy Clayton is the other), twenty-something Ethiopian-born Nigatu imparts wisdom, humor and a much needed young-black-female-brunch-enjoying-as-well-as-deep-conversation-having perspective voice to the podcast arena.

Just listen to any of her work with Tracy – the “A Gumbo of AfroFuturism” episode is just too good – and you will know why so many people are fans of the show. Lin-Manuel Miranda isn’t just a fluke.

Showing the breadth of the modern black female life in these crazy times, Nigatu is saying out loud what many people think. ‘Bout time, isn’t it.
