Hawa Musa: The Gospel Singer to Watch Out For
There is singing for the genre of gospel, and singing the gospel.
There are so many young artistes now doing gospel music but with less gospel to listen to. Listening to Hawa Musa’s “Awesome God” tune off her yet-to-be launched album, there were some creative musical lines that actually spread the word of God.
Hawa Musa is a female singer who has had to batter odds set before her, since childhood.
First, she converted from Islam to Christianity much to the chagrin of everyone around her, then she embarked on singing, in a genre that is already populated and under intense scrutiny than, perhaps all the others.
Now in her mid-20s, she has one 12-track album launched in 2013 titled Ampadde and she will soon be releasing a 15-track gospel album titled Awesome God.
It is songs like Yesu Ye Answer, Nina, Aliba Omwesigwa and Papa that have endeared her to so many Christian music fans in Uganda.
Currently under Bantu Productions Studio, where she also serves as the Vice President, Musa has been on a tour in Washington DC, Dallas, Boston and Waltham and it seems she has left a mark on all her stops.
Bantu Productions has taken up some local musicians like Levixone and others.
If everything remains constant, Musa should keep singing what she does best.
