From the Runways of Paris and New York…
Before she strutted the catwalks of Paris, Milan, London, and New York, Ajuma Nasenyana was just another young girl from Turkana in northern Kenya.
But even then she stood out — just not as a budding style icon. Kids teased her because of her skin color. “They made me feel horrible because I was darker than everyone else,” she says.
They’re not teasing her anymore. Nasenyana enjoyed an illustrious eight-year career as a magazine cover model and rocked the runways of the world, headlining shows for international designers, such as Marc Jacobs, Victoria’s Secret, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Alexis Mabille, Martin Grant, Lacoste, Jay McCarroll, and Baby Phat.
She didn’t stop there. Nasenyana is the founder and executive director of Africa’s first international model and casting agency, City Models Africa.
